Beverage Intake and Obesity in Australian Children

Globally, there has been a lot of research looking at the role of beverages and diet. What is happening in Australia?
Reviewing the results of an analysis undertaken by Flinders University on the National Children's Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey (2007), Professor Peter Clifton, Director of the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute, presents the results of his research review, "Beverage Intake and Obesity in Australian Children," in this free webinar sponsored by Coca-Cola South Pacific.

Professor Clifton will review the intake of sugar sweetened beverages in children and whether his plays a role in overweight and obesity levels, while also looking at how consumption related to socio economic status (SES), TV viewing and activity levels.

Professor Peter Clifton

Worked at CSIRO for 22 years before moving to Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute in 2009. He is the co-author of the two CSIRO Total Well Being Diet Books and the Healthy Heart Book. He is the author of over 200 peer reviewed scientific papers and has a special interest in the nutritional treatment of type 2 diabetes, obesity and heart disease
