Straight Facts

I read that diet drinks are good for managing weight but recently heard otherwise. Is this true?

This is false. Weight gain is all about how much you eat in relation to your physical activity.  If your kilojoule consumption is greater than the number of kilojoules that your body is burning, then you will put on weight.  In fact the Coca-Cola Health and Wellness Advisory Council – an independent panel of experts in nutrition science and public health reviewed the scientific evidence on sweeteners and found that they assist people in keeping to a low energy diet. Our product range is expanding to meet your changing needs and we now offer more sugar-free and low-kilojoule options including the launch of Pumped, Coca-Cola Zero, Sprite Zero and Fanta Zero. Parents have always told us they should be the ones to decide what they give their children to drink. That’s why The Coca-Cola Company has taken significant steps to support this. For the last 7 years in Australia we have not advertised any of our products in any media to children under 12 years of age.

We’re committed to contributing to the health and wellbeing of all Australians

The Coca-Cola Australia New Zealand Health and Wellness Advisory Council, formed of experts in the area of dietetics, obesity and public health, advise the Company on nutrition and health and guide our commitments in the area of nutrition both in new product development and marketing.

In addition we support a number of programs across Australia that promote physical activity and education amongst young people. To find our mote about some of the programs we support, click here
