Promoting active lifestyles is a very real part of who we are. In fact, we have a long tradition of supporting sports and fitness programs throughout the world. Today, that commitment is as strong as ever.
In 2001, Coca-Cola Australia developed an initiative called the Active Lifestyle Program. These programs are funded through many avenues including the Coca-Cola Australia Foundation, the Coca-Cola Community Awards and as part of our many sporting sponsorships.
For example our Foundation supports The Smith Family’s Bluearth program which provides movement education in primary schools addressing children’s intrinsic motivation to be physically active. The program encourages and promotes health, fitness and general wellbeing. Click here to find our more about the Coca-Cola Australia Foundation.
Our Community Awards inspire and reward Australians who encourage healthy, active lifestyles among young people in their community. In 2006, Community Awards winner Robyn Sanewski, was granted $10,000 for her ‘Fit for Life organisation which promotes physical activity and healthier food choices for children in after school care. Her outstanding efforts were rewarded with a trip to walk the Kokoda Trail with Paralymic skier Michael Militon.
In addition, our sports sponsorships help promote organised activity. Our ongoing support of team sports and leagues helps get tens of thousands of young people in Australia and around the world get up and get moving.
