Don't Let Your Body Run Out of Fuel
Do you work out regularly? If so, you may already know the importance of drinking enough fluids to sustain you throughout your workout.
But when you sweat, your body also loses electrolytes and burns energy or kilojoules. This may leave your muscles depleted, which means they may not have adequate carbohydrates to fuel your workout. You can replenish these carbohydrates by drinking a sports drink during your workout.
Some sports drinks have been specially formulated to be consumed before and after exercise. For example there are sports drinks that contain additional benefits such as caffeine which has been proven to enhance your performance if consumed 30-60 minutes prior to your workout. There are also sports drinks that contain protein which may help to speed up recovery times after exercise.
Another benefit of drinking sports drinks when you exercise is its taste. People consume 45 per cent to 50 percent more liquid when it's flavoured because people are more likely to consume a drink they enjoy.
